What happens to transparency?
JPG has no concept of transparent pixels, so anything see-through in your PNG is filled with a white background as it converts. - Are my images uploaded anywhere?
- No. The conversion happens locally on your device with the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, so screenshots and private images stay on your machine.
- What happens to transparent areas?
- JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent pixels are filled with a solid white background during conversion. If you need to keep transparency, leave the file as PNG instead.
- Will the JPG actually be smaller than the PNG?
- For photographs and detailed images, almost always — JPG often cuts the size by 70% or more. For flat graphics with only a few colours the saving is smaller, and occasionally a simple PNG can even be lighter than its JPG version.
- Can I convert multiple PNGs at once?

- Does converting reduce image quality?
- JPG is lossy, so there is some compression, but at the default quality it is hard to notice on photos. The original PNG on your device is left untouched, so you can always reconvert.
